Who she is
Mahnoor Euceph is a Pakistani-American writer, director, and producer based in Los Angeles, telling stories about the South Asian diaspora through a female lens.
She graduated summa cum laude from UCLA (Design | Media Arts) and earned an MFA in Film & Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where she was a George Lucas Scholar. Her debut short Eid Mubarak — about a privileged Pakistani girl trying to save her pet goat from being sacrificed on Eid al-Adha — played 40-plus festivals, won more than a dozen awards, and was long-listed for Best Live Action Short at the 96th Academy Awards. Variety publicly predicted an Oscar nomination.
Her newest proof-of-concept short, 11:11, is set in affluent 2011 Palos Verdes: sixteen-year-old Pakistani-American Noori wishes at 11:11 to become her crush’s “type” — and is magically turned white, blonde, and blue-eyed, then has to reverse it before she loses herself. It stars Tara Raani and Mahaela Park, was selected for the Proof of Concept Accelerator founded by Cate Blanchett, Coco Francini, and Dr. Stacy L. Smith (all executive producers), and a feature version is in development. A Pillars Artist Fellow, she works in identity, assimilation, diaspora, and world-building — with a 50-year plan and a dream Benazir Bhutto biopic.
